The Lowveld Protected Areas Group is providing a platform for coordination, co-learning and ensuring that the value of the Protected Area Network is realised.
Several world class Research Institutions are conducting research within the K2C landscape on numerous topics. This Forum affords these institutions the opportunity to coordinate their research, identify strategies to determine research needs and to share experiences.
The K2C NRMP Forum affords all the Agencies within the K2C that are involved in the implementation of the DEA programmes (From Work for Water, Work for Fire, Work for Ecosystems etc) within the bioregion to coordinate their activities and to share experiences
The main purpose to the K2C Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Forum is to provide an informal but semi-structured platform for coordination, alignment and co-learning, and linking to the formal conservation and education sectors by using the Man and the Biosphere principles.
This youth leadership Forum is elected from the ranks of collaborative organisation programmes within the SANParks BSP Programme. They meet once a month and through peer education, and invited topic experts, develop a lesson plan around identified topics which emerge from a needs analysis.
UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MaB) Programme recognizes landscapes, where reconciliation of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the face of climate change are pursued.
In the K2C landscape, the MaB Programme provides a framework which promotes and demonstrates a mutually supportive relationship between people and nature. The programme encourages interdisciplinary research, demonstration and training in natural resource management as the basis for economic development. It offers a platform for dialogue and actions to ensure the reconciliation of biodiversity conservation with resilient and sustainable development for all members of the broader community.
