Projects and Project Implementation are important aspects of the functioning within a biosphere reserve or region and suitable project identification and implementation is a continual focus within the K2C.

BIOCULTURAL PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT
Communities have rights to access natural resources and they also have rights to have their traditional knowledge protected, but often remain ignorant of both.
The primary objective of the K2C GEF SGP under Strategic Projects (inclusive of Community Engagement) are to, through systemic and participatory approaches, expand and enhance the benefits of the protected areas network, improved conservation and biodiversity land use practices .
K2C-WILDLANDS CEBA PROJECT
Wildlands Conservation Trust, a dynamic KZN-based Non-Governmental Organisation, is partnering with K2C Networks for the implementation of an innovative programme aimed at benefiting the poor while they are taking care of eco-system restoration.
Working for Ecosystems involved teams specialising in erosion control and rehabilitation of degraded land. The objectives of this programme is to ensure that degraded ecosystems are restored and able to maintain and support the natural species of that system.
The GEF PAM is funded through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). K2C acts as the implementer of the project. The GEF PAM is unique because it is a union of two different UNDP funded components, the Mainstreaming programme managed by SANBI and the Protected Area programme managed by SANParks. Both these programmes have various sites throughout South Africa, with the K2C being the only site implementer working on both.
