The primary objective of the K2C GEF SGP under Strategic Projects (inclusive of Community Engagement) are to, through systemic and participatory approaches, expand and enhance the benefits of the protected areas network, improved conservation and biodiversity land use practices, enable economic opportunities derived from better managed natural resources, as demonstrated at five key pilot sites.
Strategic partners in the implementation of the SGP include:
AWARD, University. of Pretoria, University of Witwatersrand, SAWC, Sabi Sand Game Reserve Buffelshoek Trust and the MTPA
Achievements todate include:
1. 5x Demonstration Projects;
2. Protected Area Beneficiation Framework drafted
3. Project extended to March 2015 (end of Q4) by UNDP (funders).
