Three months into the year, a clear rhythm is emerging across the K2C Biosphere Region.
As we share our 2025–2026 Impact Report below, we proudly reflect on a year of accelerated growth and expanded reach, driven by catalytic investment. Alongside that growth came a clear responsibility – to consolidate and sustain these gains in a way that strengthens both the landscape and the partnerships that support it.
This first quarter has been about doing exactly that. Taking the momentum we have built and grounding it in clear priorities, shared direction, and practical delivery.
January was a time of alignment. Across teams and programmes, we stepped back to collectively shape both organisational and individual strategic objectives for the year ahead. The focus was simple but important, to ensure that our work is intentional, measurable, and connected to the outcomes we are working towards across this landscape.
As the quarter unfolded, that planning began to translate into action.
We marked the close-out of the Upper Letaba Restoration Project, a powerful example of what sustained, collaborative restoration can achieve. The impact is tangible, not only in hectares restored and water returned to the system, but in the relationships built and the stewardship that continues beyond the life of a project.
At the same time, the Catchment Investment Programme continues to build momentum. The launch of the Source to Savannah film has helped to bring this work to life, connecting people more deeply to the role that healthy catchments play in securing water, livelihoods, and biodiversity across the region.
The Impact Report reflects what has been achieved. This quarter reflects how we carry it forward.
Across all of this, our focus remains steady:
To deliver with clarity and efficiency,
To strengthen and deepen partnerships, and
To continue advancing approaches that support both people and nature over the long term.
What is becoming increasingly clear is that impact is not defined by single moments, but by the accumulation of consistent, intentional work. Across the K2C landscape, that work is visible every day, in the choices being made, the partnerships being built, and the systems being strengthened.

Partnership in practice: Welcoming the Cotton On Foundation
In mid-March, we welcomed the Cotton On Foundation team to the K2C Biosphere Region, a visit that offered a shared view into the landscapes, partnerships, and people that shape the work supported by the Foundation.

Conservation Agreements: The Cornerstone of Climate Adaptation in the K2C Landscape
The Nature Positive Livelihoods Demonstration Project in the K2C Biosphere is making progress in supporting rural communities to adapt to climate change while improving their livelihoods through the implementation of Conservation Agreements.
New research partnership with University of Limpopo
K2C is in the process of formalising an exciting new collaboration with the University of Limpopo through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Once finalised, the agreement will set the foundation for a long-term partnership focused on applied environmental research, student training, and practical solutions to local sustainability challenges.
